Better performance, price increases, location changes, etc.
Starting off the second quarter of the year strong, we are proud to announce some upcoming changes coming to Kraken Hosting! We hope everyone enjoys these changes as they are put in place, and we have some details following:
Better Performance
We will be working directly with HostFusion to provide top of the line Ryzen 9 9950x's CPU's for a mere $1.50/GB for most Minecraft plans. We will be moving all users to this new, better node within a week!
Price Increases
With this better performance, as mentioned, we will be raising prices slightly. Just by a mere 25 cents per GB, USD. Any current rates will be honored, and any agreements as well. Rest assured no current orders will be affected.
Location Changes
Additionally, we will be axing the Finland node. It is well over $55/month for 64GB, while we only actually use less than 20GB for customers. It loses us profit. Not that it's all we care about, it's just not sustainable.
What's the "etcetera"?
Well, I have bad news. Since we are using much better hardware, dedicated memory isn't as important. I promise we will never allow enough memory to be overallocated to where it degrades performance by ANY noticeable amount, no matter how little. Our memory usage is always available on our Status Page! You can view it for yourself!
Dates
EU users will be moved to the US before the 1st of May. The start of this transition should be the 15th of April, 2025, and last through the 19th for US users, and the 30th for EU ones.
